Macclesfield Eye Society shares its premises with sister charity, The Macclesfield & District Talking Newspaper for the Blind.
We sponsor the newspaper, which has been running for over 40 years and one of the first TN’s in the north of England. It is available for free to blind and visually impaired people living in Macclesfield, Bollington, Poynton, Prestbury and surrounding districts, or who have links with the area. The Talking Newspaper is sent out for free each week by Royal Mail to listeners who then return the USB sticks (in the special pouch provided) ready for the next issue. Simple USB players are provided on loan, which are set up and introduced to new listeners by a volunteer who will come out to their home.
The Talking Newspaper offers blind and visually impaired people in the borough an audio version of the Macclesfield Express, and includes a general interest audio magazine, the TN Tapestry.
For a two-week trial please phone the Talking Newspaper on 01625 435283, or contact us by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
