Here at Macclesfield Eye Society we are developing our services to help blind and partially sighted people use technology and the internet.
Please do contact us to find out how we can help with your specific needs and technological challenges.
Below is an overview of our current IT and Technology services:
Delivered by Action for Blind People/RNIB, Online Today is a 2 hour taster session introducing you to the world of iPads and tablets as a visually impaired user. These sessions are hosted by us and held at Macclesfield Library every 6-8 weeks – click here for more upcoming dates and information about the Online Today sessions.
Assistive Technology Advice Appointments:
We host an appointment based system at the Resource Centre for one-to-one sessions with an expert in ‘assistive technology’. In these half and hour appointments you are able to discuss all kinds of electronic magnification devices and other helpful gadgets, and see first hand how technology might help you with reading or daily living.
Appointments are usually held on the first Tuesday of the month, from 10am until 1pm. We are pleased to be welcoming VI technology expert John Hughes from Action for Blind People/RNIB to the Resource Centre for these sessions to help us give you the best possible advice. Please pop in or give us a call if you’re interested in spending some time with John to see how technology can help you.
Home IT Support:
Our IT Support volunteers can visit you at home to have a look at any problems you are having, or to help you develop IT systems that will work for your level of vision. Please contact us to speak to us about how best we can help your situation!
